Employee Assignments
Introduction
At TryHackMe, we aim to foster a supportive environment where members can share knowledge and experiences related to cybersecurity and technology. However, to uphold professional integrity and respect the confidentiality agreements typically associated with employment, internships, and job interviews, we have specific guidelines regarding discussions about job assignments, workplace projects, or interview tasks. This policy outlines the boundaries for such discussions within our community.
Scope of Policy
This policy applies to all types of professional engagements, including but not limited to full-time positions, internships, contractual roles, and job interviews. It encompasses all forms of communication within the community, such as public chats, private messages, and any other forms of interaction.
Policy Details
Prohibited Discussions
- Job Assignments and Work Projects: Community members are not permitted to seek or provide specific guidance, solutions, or detailed help regarding tasks or responsibilities assigned to them by their employer or during an internship. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Proprietary information or specific project details that are likely covered under non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) or confidentiality clauses.
- Direct solutions to work-related problems that involve internal processes, technologies, or data of an employer.
- Interview Assignments: Members are prohibited from requesting or offering answers or detailed solutions to specific questions or tasks assigned as part of a job interview process. This includes coding challenges, technical problem-solving questions, and strategy discussions that are meant to assess a candidate's skills.
Acceptable Discussions
While direct assistance with job-specific assignments is restricted, general discussions about skills development, career advice, and theoretical knowledge-sharing are encouraged. Acceptable topics include:
- Career development strategies and general advice.
- Discussions about technologies, tools, and practices that are common in the industry.
- Sharing experiences and lessons learned in generic terms without disclosing sensitive or proprietary information.
Rationale
This policy is designed to:
- Protect the intellectual property and confidential information of employers and organisations.
- Maintain the ethical standards of the community by discouraging any form of cheating or dishonesty in professional settings.
- Encourage members to develop problem-solving skills and professional integrity by tackling their professional challenges independently.
